Northern Ireland Players Get 'Suited and Booted' for France

The new, tailor-made suit which the Northern Ireland players and officials will be wearing in France this summer has been officially unveiled by Bogart.

The Belfast menswear retailer, the Irish FA’s official suit partner, has worked in conjunction with lifestyle brand Herbie Frogg to design and produce the official suit for what will be Northern Ireland’s first appearance in a major football tournament in 30 years.

The bespoke suit is a navy three-piece, with a white shirt and green and navy tie. The look is completed by a pair of brown Derby shoes.

Some Northern Ireland players, including Gareth McAuley and Jonny Evans, took time out from preparing for Monday night’s home friendly against Slovenia to visit Bogart’s Callender Street store on Saturday afternoon to get fitted for their suits.

John Keenan, Managing Director of Bogart, commented:

“We’ve been working closely with the Irish FA and Herbie Frogg to ensure we get the best possible design and style of the team’s suit. We’re very proud of the finished product and delighted to be able to let the fans see what the players will be wearing when they board that plane for France.

“As Belfast’s oldest city centre menswear retailer, having been in business for almost half a century, our name is synonymous with the city. This summer is Northern Ireland’s big chance to shine on the world stage and it’s fitting that they will be wearing suits supplied by a family firm which is so strongly committed to the local market.”

The green and navy tie will soon be available for the public to buy.

Sinclair White of Herbie Frogg said:

“The bespoke Herbie Frogg three-piece suit which the Northern Ireland players and officials will be wearing in France will ensure the country is represented with style and sophistication throughout the tournament.

“It was very important for Northern Ireland’s famous green to be a prominent part of the tie and we have teamed this with a cutting-edge navy jacket, waistcoat and trousers. The players enjoyed getting fitted out and will no doubt wear their suits with pride in France.”

Oonagh O’Reilly, Irish FA Sales and Marketing Director, said:

“Naturally, the players are all looking forward to this year’s most eagerly awaited football competition. It’s the first time Northern Ireland have qualified for a major tournament in 30 years and this suit deal will ensure the players look the part off the field.

“We are delighted we have been able to support Northern Ireland businesses through this deal.”

Bogart is Belfast’s longest-established city centre menswear retailer, having been in business since 1971. The company operates two Belfast stores, in Ann Street and Callender Street, as well as a shop in Newry’s Canal Court.

The family business is headed up by Newry native and company Managing Director John Keenan, working alongside sons Gary, Mark and Neil.
