In 1894 Barbour was founded in the port of South Shields in the North East of England by Scotsman John Barbour. The renowned company is a testament to the founding principles of quality, attention to detail, fitness for purpose and durability. Throughout their 120 years of service, the need for waterproof, reliable, hardwearing outerwear amongst communities worldwide has developed, making Barbour an international iconic trusted label. 

The classic brand thrives on the unique values of the British countryside, reflecting this into their classic, authentic clothing and accessory designs that cater for men, women, children and even dogs. Barbour prides itself on offering a full range of wardrobe essentials. 

In 2012 the family run business won Drapers ‘Menswear Brand of the Year’ and continues to surpass high expectations season after season. Although Barbour has a strong presence around the globe, the brand remembers its British heritage with their classic wax jackets manufactured by hand in Simonside, South Shields.

The country-wear brand has been growing in popularity for fashion-forward outerwear since the 1980’s and now produces and sells more than 100,000 jackets a year; a true acknowledgement of the North East brand sartorial pre-eminence.
